SOUTHERN
PRIDE VICTORIOUS
IN CARIBBEAN CUP
The
Southern Pride fishing team, comprised of owner
Ted Smith along with Gerard Aliseo, Russell Petranto and Tucker Colquhoun,
led the Chivas Regal Aruba Caribbean Cup nearly wire to
wire. The team released a pair of blue marlin and a
white marlin early on Day One and never relinquished the
lead from that point forward. They finished the
tournament with 2100 points; four blue marlin, one white
marlin and a pair of sailfish in four days of tournament
competition.
Second
place fell to the Aruban-based Alina, captained
by Eric Mansur. The team released a Grand Slam for the
boat on Day Two, winding up the event with 1900 points;
three blue marlin, one white marlin and three sailfish
(plus 100 additional bonus points for the Grand Slam).
The
OBX team, fishing on the Teaser, slid into
third place with a big move on the third day of the
tournament. They finished the event with 1400 points;
four white marlin and two sailfish.
The
anglers, observers, captains and crews really enjoyed
the tournament, which featured good fishing in
unseasonably calm seas and plenty of warm-hearted Aruban
hospitality along the way.
Tonight
is the gala awards presentation and dinner to be held at
the Aruba Surfside Marina.
