“My fiancé and I were vacationing in Virgin Gorda last year and we just loved it here. So, I began looking for a job in the Virgin Islands and started work at Sugar Bay earlier this year.”
Most recently, Kenney lived in the Miami, Florida, area where he catered many events for clients on Fisher Island and fished with his clients and friends as well. “I’ve done a lot of the sailfish tournaments, as well as the Miami Billfish Tournament and tournaments over in the Bahamas,” he says.
Along the way, Kenney has fished with Capt. Bouncer Smith, aboard Bouncer’s Dusky 33, out of Miami, live-baiting for sailfish, dolphin, king mackerel, wahoo and blackfin tuna.
He’s also fished off Miami and the Bahamas aboard the Miss Britt, with Capt. Ray Rosher at the helm.
Kenney’s a fisherman who knows just how to cook fish.
“Most people think it’s difficult. But, the best way if grilled with a little lemon, lime, olive oil and seasonings,” he says.

Don’t worry. If you get skunked for the day, you won’t go hungry. The resort takes the "all" in all-inclusive quite literally. You'll find that all meals (at any resort restaurant) and all beverages (including premium liquor and house wine) are included.
However, dining at the new Tuscany’s Restaurant and coffee shop Barista are not in the all-inclusive plan, but they are a ‘must’ to enjoy. A menu featuring a la carte Italian favorites for dinner compliments Tuscany’s formal, intimate atmosphere. The Barista is just the place for that cup of joe to get you going after a fishing marathon.
The Manor House Restaurant in the main lobby serves a full Caribbean breakfast buffet daily and for dinner the ambience shifts to fine dining in an intimate candlelit atmosphere, a la carte with display kitchen and soup and salad bar. Reservations are required and accepted from 7 a.m. to Noon daily.
If you don't feel like dressing for dinner, or lunch, head to the Mangrove Restaurant, the resort’s casual, contemporary poolside bistro. Here you’ll find flame-broiled specialties from the open grill or all-you-can-eat dinner buffets featuring different international themes each day of the week.
Finally, what’s special about being sports fishermen? Well, at Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort & Spa, it will get you special savings. The ‘Fisherman’s Rate’ for this May, June and July is only $163 per night. In August and September, just in time for the USVI Open/Atlantic Blue Marlin (The ‘Boy Scout’ Tournament), the rate drops to $127 per night.
